We completed the 100 a few weekends ago (102 caches to be exact) with a few left over to go back and find. We managed it in 48 hours, so whilst not worthy of the wall of fame, impressive feat on foot if I do say so myself.

It was a fun series in all with many highs and lows: hides, paths and moods.

Plugged in the codes this morning and got the coords, so we were ready and since I'll business travelling next month we decided this was our last shot to go for it before the end of summer (or is already over?).

Headed out late, 5pm and found a place to park in a close just off the main road North of the cache. Headed down into the field and surroundings looked familiar. We got to the end of the field and then it seemed that we'd taken the wrong shortcut. Climbed the farmers gate, only to later realise there was a stile nearby in the corner of the field.

Cache was not difficult to reach but surrounded by nettles and brambles which were hostile to my pale bare legs (knew I shouldn't have wore my shorts). Glad we did not have to walk far for this one (well, actually we did but you know what I mean).

Quick photo op at GZ, admire the tat that is left after all the goodies have been pillaged and we were on our way back to the car.

On the way back I remarked to the wife we should go by No. 50 and see if we could try again... so we did.

Took: Munster GC
Dropped: Travel Bee
Visit: Celebrate Love

Thanks for a great series, which is obviously heck to maintain, but we didn't mind helping out. Now just to sweep up those one's that eluded us!

We originally intended just to come out and do the bonus but this one has been bothering me since we DNF'd so I casually mentioned to Mrs Fitz we should drive by and have another quick look....

On the way over, I got an email alert for smithcox's find, so I felt certain this would be no trouble. Of course, this gave us as much trouble as it had in the dark with torches - 45 minutes later we were frustrated and still cacheless.

We'd searched all the spots we had before, including some obvious and some not so obvious places. We knew from previous logs that we should be looking up but all the climbing and poking yielded no fruit.

I looked at smithcox's log again and even though we found something tool-like hanging off a branch, there wasn't a way we could see that it would prove useful for what we intended and in the end it was a red herring.

We were about to give up (how many times does a geocacher say this in their log eh?) and then Mrs Fitz found something else which could be described as a tool but not something we'd call a tool, but using it and with a bit of help from me, Mrs Fitz was able to try something and.... yes..... it was a cache after all!

Kicking ourselves for this one as we've done so many now. I had looked at this on the first attempt but I also spotted the huge spiders nearby and decided that it just couldn't be. Well, it was. TFTC!

Coords in the description were confusing and seemed to be wildly out, took a reading ourselves, if it's any help to others. The hint is confusing only if you don't know what you're looking for.

Finally found this with Geocritter (my nephew, doesn't have an account) and my non-caching brother!

We DNF'd on this one a long while ago so I emailed HH to check the coords, he advised we were one digit out on the Westings, however the irony is that I realise we had found the correct GZ before, but the number I sent to HH was wrong.

So after checking all along this bank we even went to up to the top of the bridge wondering if it was hid there but no. After looking over previous logs, read a couple of things which gave me us a bit more direction. Headed back to to GZ and this time looked in the less obvious place, after routing around and putting my hand here and there, I finally spotted the thing which was right in front of my face, but had not noticed!

At least Geocritter managed to dodge all the dog****, me and my bro were not so lucky. Geocritter's 4th cache, really loves geocaching and perhaps I'll open a separate account for him soon but he's just a bit young yet to be let run riot on the internets.

Thanks Hillhappy for another excellent cache!

Actually "found" on 17/8 but just got to logging today (30/8) having time to do research.

After Going Out Or Getting Lost If Not Good answers, found an obscure blog or two, and those led me onto some of the key scientific and trade descriptions. I think I have the correct answers but prepared to accept if I got them wrong - I particularly found the stone masons term of reference difficult to obtain but I think I understand it.

Anyway, I went for this one on my way back from the Saudi Arabian Embassy, after submitting my application for a visa to go there for business. It was grey day which turned a bit wet and I had spent an hour waiting for the embassy to open that morning (open one hour later due to Ramadan). Took a while to locate as I was using solely my Android phone which got me to within 30m of GZ but a quick gaze through the previous logs confirmed my location.

Learned something new again thanks to Geocaching, and got to see the HQ of that paragon (arguably) of financial reporting. Much more satisfying than a couple of Gowalla check-ins!

Won't let me upload an image just now (down for maintenance)... will upload asap.

We were in the area doing cache maintenance in Cassiobury Park so decided to hit this one whilst we were here. Mrs Fitz found it after we tried the wrong side of the fence, she found a hole she could fit through and disappeared as I walked ahead. Nice large sized container but I hope it survives the winter - maybe a lock n' lock would do here.

Nice walk and a lovely view in the late evening sun, pretty sure this is a wheat field though?

TFTC!

Out cycling the Route 66 today, came with TeamNoodle and brought a few other non-cachers logged under WCC Team (no account).

I have to say I've only been to the USA once and it wasn't the mainland so most of these places are lost on me but maybe next year I'll plan to visit a friend.

Cycled from Watford and it's the first time I'd been on my bike this year so I was really feeling it, but nice to do a smaller series than the Chesham 100 last weekend!

Parked up nearby, but we weren't staying - quick find hardly worth a mention really but since this was the last cache we actually found (couldn't find 109) I guess that leaves it to us to thank Dr Solly for his hard work, and for being available for us all weekend to give the code whilst we replaced the missing ones.

There are a few for us to come back for, but I think we have enough for the bonus. I can proudly confirm that now all of the caches we found, bar one, have the bonus codes written somewhere in them or on the log. So a few more people should be able to go for the bonus now!

We actually did this one last - the reason being at the time I had no reception on the mobile so I couldn't contact Dr S to confirm a replacement drop.

On the way back, after obtaining the code we stopped quickly in the car and tucked the replacement neatly away in near enough the spot it should be in going by the hint.

On the first time up here though, on foot, we didn't have much time to spare, desperate to relieve ourselves and me personally needing a No. 2 we headed out and decided to get back to the car asap and skip the last of the caches further up.

Finally finding releif in The Bell we resolved to drive the last few caches and give our feet a rest.

This one was a little more trickier - it was not in the obvious place nor where the GPSr at first led us, but then I decided to check out the place that didn't look like it had a cachers trail, and I had to drop my rucksack too, there I did find it.

I should mention at this point that we were both now feeling the effects of a large pub meal and drinks and were desperately in need of relief.

A little bit of hunting around but then I spotted something reflecting from the trees.

Log is slighlty damp but looks like it is drying out, will survive so we didn't replace. Dog walking roamer from earlier with the slobbery dog caught up with us and like most of the locals was up for a chat - but unlike most of the locals didn't know what we were doing.

Since we could see the route from yesterday we were wondering if we were meant to double back or if there was a road, he indicated there was. He then began to recommend the Queens Head - which we said we'd been to yesterday. We told him our car was parked up the hill and our next waypoint was too (since he'd asked about the GPSr). We bid him fairwell and were on the way again.

Interestingly, he asked us to check again and indeed, the original cache was there, as it had always been - I think we would have spotted this too if not for the replacement being found first.

Original cache signed, replacement taken out (we put the replacement log that had a lot of signatures on it, with the original). I am glad now we honestly DNF'd on the ones we genuinely thought were more difficult, rather than issuing another throw-down.

After going to church and giving our bodies a bit of a rest this morning, we decided to go for pub lunch at the Artichoke in Croxley. It was here after eating their huge gourmet burger that we were recounting our previous day, and Mrs Fitz was still adamant she could have gone on for night-caching the final ring.

We both thought it would be great if we could at least do the 100 in a weekend, if not a day. It was then that she stated she could quite easily head over and do it now. Well I was feeling quite stuffed and thought she was only bluffing - in order to tell people later that I held her back and we could have done it. So I kind of went along in a double-bluff, thinking I would get her to climb down.

The bluffing back and forth continued (though she insists she was genuine all along). I had already texted Dr S that we were done and would try the final ring another time, but as we drove back home in the car I was really starting to get excited about going out there again. At the same time, bluffing or not, Mrs Fitz was losing her enthusiasm and tried to seduce me into taking a nap when we got back home - but I was by this time all fired up and getting on my caching gear.

So moments later we were back in the car, and heading back. I sent another text to Dr S to check he'd be on hand and he said "Go for it"!

Arrived at GZ, parked on the side of the road without blocking access and found quite quickly. Onward Samwise!

So this appeared tricky due to all the lurkers nearby smoking and engaged in conversation, with presumably their car parked right in front of the cache. As we stood in front wandering what to do, another truck pulled up the other side of us - the owner pointing to the cache and raising his eyebrows.

I am guessing as this is a Pathfinder Ostrich Farm the ostrich farmers here are in on the game - probably why the other lurkers cared not what we were up to! I can only apologise we didn't stop to talk to the helpful Ostrich farmer, we were all a little tired and wanted to move on.

We got to see the ostriches run when they saw food coming. After finding the cache, another younger, helpful farmer on a quad bike pointed out the hide to us, we said thanks and then we were on our way... up... another hill!

Another find by MrBen - whilst we were looking round what seemed like a odd type of tree - he found an even odder looking tree which turned out to be it. Had a quick count of the trunks to be sure... then a short discussion over polygon counts to convince Mrs Fitz that the hint was not 8 but 6.

This one took us a while... and it seemed there was not easy route to it, as we had passed and then cut through the hedge but heading back up along the path rendered an easier option.

This is where tragedy befell my lovely wife. As we were walking down, MrBen looked down at the back of her legs and in a quite understated manor said "What's that on the back of your legs?". To Mrs Fitz's horror, she had trodden in dogs**t, and not only that, whilst obviously raising her legs to step over some branch or bramble she had managed to smear it all over her jeans.

It was then that we began to smell it and it was quite embarrassing for her but she handled it well, I'm quite proud to say. We opted for finding a pub where she could clean her jeans and in the meantime tried to get most of it off her shoe.

Dog owners - please pick it up you lazy b*s! Sick of treading in it and the only thing that surprises me is I managed to dodge it all day (it's usually me that gets it).

I think MrBen was clearly held back by his injured hand, I have seen him dive into bushes on previous caching trips... this time it was my turn to scramble up and go a bit further down from where our GPSr was pointing, then found it - nice big-ish container.

Logged and on our way. Though I was starting to get concerned that we were going a bit slow.

Wasted a bit of time getting to this one as we didn't read the directions properly on the cache description. The farm looks private, but then you spot the brilliantly concealed public footpath sign behind the large farm sign - almost as difficult as the cache.

If anyone needs the toilet or anything I would advise going to this pub as it will save you in the long run - we didn't and weren't able to find a pub/toilets till we got back to Chesham and CH046 (however I was informed later by Team Noodle that there is another one en route which is also slightly hidden away).

I also began to realise that trying to arrange a hookup with other cachers was going to slow us down considerably...

However, thinking about it now with hindsight, we were already going too slow stopping for too long between caches. We now know if you're going to do this you need to be constantly on the move.

We've been looking at this series since Winter and waiting for the right time (and season) to do it. For a long time whenever I've cared to look towards the Chilterns to seek out caches there's these flipping huge rings splattered all over the map... so it's time to clear these off the map and join the ranks of those who've done the Chesham 100.

I had communicated with Dr Solly the week before and agreed to bring some containers and replace any missing. We started at this one about 7.30am and were already discovering that the first one appeared to be missing. We did indeed find what was left of the string.

Quick call to DS to confirm and a replacement was dispatched. The hint will still work but it's a bit further down, not on a string and with new coords. Contains logbook and series clue.

It was a bit difficult in deciding where this could be rehidden securely until MrBen found another sleeper a bit further up the path. I remarked that there were quite a few spiders webs around that one, but he reckoned no-one would mind... actually considering the number of spider webs we had to break later, this might be par for the course this time of year!

Another easy find. Here we said farewell to TeamNoodle and MrBen as he felt it was time and he had more important things to attend to such as his girlfriend - he has yet to learn that geocaching is more important than family! - just kidding.

So here Mrs Fitz and I were left umming and aahing over whether another ring - or even the series was doable. But Mrs Fitz was well up for it and so since I felt I still had the energy, and renewed from the rest we had, we should attempt it. TeamNoodle could not find this one earlier but I think they must have had the wrong coords too, zero'd in on this with my trusty 60CSx and it was Mr Noodle who discovered it pretty much straight away.

Now off to the Queens Head for a good rest, a pint, some grub and a clean up. I think this is where we lost the most time but c'est la vie. The Fullers Honey Dew was superb.

It was at this point I decided to whip out my new solar power charger which I'd bought this week, I'd had it sitting in sunlight all day yesterday so was hoping to charge up my Android phone so we could keep getting hints and logs but it was a dead duck - I might return it and go for one of those unenvironmental battery chargers instead.

So I had in my mind that 82 was the start of the Chartridge ring which we assessed was the smallest and so a good chance of completing for us in good time. However it turns out this one was the end of the Asheridge ring, so we decided to do this ring instead, backwards.

This time we were focused, as soon as we found a cache either me or Mrs Fitz would start heading towards the next one whilst the other signed and replaced. We found this was a good system and got us round much faster than before.

I'd say for anyone contemplating doing the 100 in a day and walking, this is how it's gotta be.

Grabbed during lunchtime - another nice cache n' dash in an interesting off-street location. Weather is behaving very strange of late, incredibly humid and rather than pouring down like a monsoon it's more like walking through a steam room with small globs of water vapour attaching itself to your clothes.

3rd cache found using my Moto Milestone GPSr, accuracy is not bad but I have to find better apps for showing my actual position. Found the cache when I eventually looked in some less obvious places.

Well, I guess it is easy when you know where to look. Was on the bus on the way to the Tube when I had a brainfart "Hey, I got my Android phone now, why don't I make a second attempt at this one that's been staring me in the face for so long".

Powered up my Moto Milestone GPSr with Google Navigator and it led me right to the place my Garmin did before - so it must be here. Had to wait for a couple of lurkers and then this time however I broadened my search a little and a quick bend down to rummage through my bag I spotted it.

I don't know whether anyone else experienced this but it seems to me the coords are perhaps a little soft but the actual location is an easy grab even with plenty of lurkers around. TFTC!

Arrived a GZ and looked around, spotted what seemed to be evidence of previous cachers search attempts but it looked a bit thorny so we opted for the clue right away - feeling a bit tired and worn out by the nephew giving us the run around earlier... decided to run off away from us and dodge cars in a pub car park that sort of thing!

I was heading back to Euston Station after grabbing a cache nearby. I didn't want to do any more micro's and was a bit tired but I saw this was only 400m away and it was a mystery that could be done at the location - I had a fairly good idea what was required having done a similar virtual I decided to go for it.

Arrived at GZ - well, actually, outside GZ. Couldn't get into the park as there was some kind of open air concert on (ticket only) but they had speakers facing outside and lurkers all over sitting listening to the Opera. Thankfully, all I was needing to do was walk around and jot down information so I didn't look too conspicuous, but searching for the cache was going to be a doozie, trying not to look like I was trying to sneak into the concert.

Put together the clues, and thankfully discovered I didn't have to actually enter the private place, but I did have a small audience behind me at GZ, where I had spotted the cache immediately.

I decided to adopt the 'leaning and looking at the poster info' position to remove the cache by slight of hand. Incredibly, no-one noticed, neither did they seem interested in me unravelling a crumbling paper log and signing it.

Had to wait a few minutes before replacing, a few of the same lurkers still standing around, but just did the same thing again to get it back in place.

2x micros this evening, the other was a trad, but for some reason this was infinitely more satisfying to find, and the opera music made the clue-gathering and searching much more pleasurable. TFTC!

Well I was going to attempt a FTF on this one but technology failed me completely, here's my story...

Saw this cache get published this afternoon with a bunch of others and pondered over whether I should go for it after work. About 5pm I decided why not, so I fired up my work laptop with the intent of grabbing my latest PQ and also downloading the gpx file. This is where my problems began.

My month's usage of PAYG mobile broadband had finished yesterday - So when I plugged in the dongle I could not retrieve any email. I had to log onto vodafone site and order online, after retrieving my password I had forgotten.

Once I had it ordered, I logged onto email and downloaded the PQ as well as the gpx file for the new cache. Then I ran my script that uses gpsbabel to send to my Garmin - only my work laptop doesn't have gpsbabel isntalled!

Not a problem I thought, go into software centre and install, but Vodafone just didn't wasn't working well with the package manager, so I decided to resort to McDonalds free wifi. By now it was 6pm and I walked to the nearest McDoos and ordered a diet coke.

Sat down and opened the lappy, instantly noticed my old battery was showing only an hour to live- not a problem I thought, just plug into the wall socket. Trouble is McDoos seem to have turned off their wall sockets so I had no external power. I then logged onto McDoos wifi but it kept dropping the signal.

Finally I got a stable but slow signal and was able to download and install gpsbabel. I then loaded up the cache page to discover it had already been found, but since I'd already committed I thought may as well follow through. GPX loaded onto the Garmin, I shut down my laptop with 0% of battery to spare. What I did discover at least, is Ubuntu and Windows is under-reporting my battery life - it was on 0% for a good 20 minutes.

Now all that was left was to wait for the satellites to register whilst on the street. Which they did after about 30 minutes (I continued walking during that time). All in all I didn't get to the park till about 7.30pm.

I was in this area during winter-time and it's incredible how I didn't recognise it at first - all covered in green. Got to GZ and there just happened to be a bloke with a fag sitting right on top of the cache! So I sat down on the other side of the bench and waited whilst he finished his phone call to his girlfriend or whatever.

He finally got up after about 10 minutes and I was able to grab the cache and noted 2x signatures. I'm pretty sure I could have been a contender for this one, but I just wasn't prepared - just a few more days waiting for my Android phone then there'll be no more of this searching for signal and waiting for software to work.

Great cache location!

We were staying up the road in at Birchwood B&B overnight before catching the ferry this morning. Spent last night having food at Fordes which was superb. We were lucky enough that the local musicians had decided to meet and play that night on the off chance so we had a great meal accompanied by traditional Irish music minus the tourists. Thoroughly recommend it.

We came out of the pub and Mrs Fitz spotted the greenhouse and I thought it was such an interesting structure, I immediately wanted to photograph it - the broken glass only adds to it's mysterious alure. Too bad the property is closed off, but I guess that's safest.

Got back to the B&B but we didn't have any caches loaded for the area. Mrs Fitz used her Android to check for any nearby which is how we discovered this cache - right next to the greenhouse! So we decided to go for it after breakfast before heading to the ferry. Turns out it was the perfect time as the youths (who seemed to be doing a re-enactment of Grease last night) were not around at 7am in the morning and I was able to stand on the picnic table and take some photos of the greenhouse.

We weren't aware of the local history or the link to Hollywood just down the road, otherwise we would have booked an extra night here and arrived early. We'll definitely be back I think.

[

Nice break from our driving back to Watford from Fishguard (and ferry) to exercise our legs and view the area from above. We didn't see some of the parts listed in the description and I have an explanation for that below. Since we usually cache paperless, all I have is a little blackberry screen to view the cache description and I guess I didn't read it thoroughly enough - we thought we had the right footpath since it looked like a typical public footpath... turns out apparently it was not. We discovered this when we came down and had an encounter with a Welsh Dragon of sorts....

Definitely something weird on this hill with all the thistle and nettle bushes on this hill - Merlins revenge for being locked up?

Now for the Welsh dragon, encrypted so as not to lower the integrity of the cache listing....

]

This contains _TeamFitz_'s personal opinion...

On returning to the 2 gates at the bottom we were greeted by a woman who had come out to do some weeding... or rather to use weeding as an excuse to confront us. She claimed to be the land-owner and enquired as to whether we got lost. I replied and stated we had been up on the hill - she then pointed out that this path was not a free path but there was a charge.

We apologised and said we saw no sign informing us it was private and we offered to pay, we didn't have enough change but asked if she took a debit card which she didn't. She seemed more intent on putting us right about the private land part and why we didn't pay.

When I asked what she meant by this, she pointed to the sign for the Merlin Centre. Now I know there was not Centre up on that hill and told her so, but she insisted that the sign was for the footpath and we owed her 3 quid. When I stated that the sign is for the centre, and that there was no sign marking the path as private we got into a bit of an argument. Her insisting Wales is a different country to England, which technically it is, but is covered by the same laws.

She was quite insistent that her sign was enough to show that the path was private, I disagree - I told her plainly that it appears to be for the centre, not the path. I stated that I'd done a lot of walking and most landowners would put a specific sign up for the path to ensure there was no trespass. To be honest at this point it seemed to me she's got a good system going on here - catching honest walkers out by not displaying clear signs for access and fees.

We asked where the public path was, she was evasive, stating that part of the path - that she is charging for - is public. At no point did she point out where we could access the hill for free!

This is where the conversation got ridiculous, she went saying that she didn't have to display signs, that anyone wishing to use the path should ask. So we made a point of asking if the road we were standing in was private. Of course not, she answered, so we retorted "How would we know if we didn't ask?"

_TeamFitz_ have respect for all private land owners, we've even stopped to talk with some whilst walking through their land on occasion. But this one seems to be in it for the profit - I'd like to know if she pays tax on any of the fees she takes and I'd be interested to know if she has a traffic order or bylaw in place to prevent access. We didn't press this since we just wanted to get on.

Unless there is blatant disregard or destruction, we never judge how other cachers find the cache. I also don't want to encourage other cachers to antagonise this land owner or to blatantly flaunt local rules. It was an honest mistake we made and we certainly would have taken the public path if we had been more aware. However I hope this log would help future cachers and make them aware of the Welsh Dragon they may meet if they take this footpath and not feel intimidated into paying for access through to to the public path. She needs to get clearer signage - no other landowners seem to have this problem.

On our way back to Wexford for the ferry and plotted a few caches on the way.

Nice and easy find, in a clean and tidy area. Sun was out and a nice view of the valley. Got stung reaching for the cache but otherwise retrieval was not difficult.

We liked the sign. Ireland is such a tidy place, unfortunately England has some way to go to reach the standards Ireland has - there's so much litter in some places. The only thing we didn't agree with on the sign was apple cores and other fruit - I think it's akin to saying we should collect up all the berries that fall or the trees that fall over - afterall a tree trunk takes many years to decompose! Mrs Fitz was quick to point out that animals will most likely eat the discarded fruit.

Searched around in all the likely places, consulted the hint and we looked up and down, even in places which were not as described (found several good places for the cache if relocated). After a good long time and fruitless search we assumed it was either muggled or possibly fell down the bank.

On the way back to the car, Mrs Fitz then spotted the out of place camo immediately - 100m+ from GZ coords. Peig may want to check this cache has not drifted from the original spot - or update the coords (I have added ours).

On the way in from the ferry Mrs Fitz stopped nearby to view the Kennedy monument. It was about 6am we had sailed the red-eye and I was out like a log so only barely aware. I had no PQ so we had no idea of how many caches were on route.

So it's only fitting we stop here again on our way out to the ferry back to England (sadly) and nab this virtual. As we were getting out of the car, a local came over and implored us to go over and see the Kennedy monument since so many miss it, he then told us about a tea shop nearby where they serve the best scones and tea in New Ross. We told him we'd already seen Kennedy but didn't have the heart to tell him that we were not staying overnight and we were hitting the ferry tomorrow. Aah maybe next time.

Thanks for the history lesson and the cache. Rav4 TB Dipped.

Staying at a B&B nearby in Killarney, found this cache easily enough with the hint. Logbook still has plenty of whitespace on the back of the log pages where no-one has written.

Well, after the last couple of days of driving along the peninsula 10km and hiking, then only to DNF on a cache, it was nice to have a Cn'D with little effort required.

2x caches in under 30 minutes, a first for us in Ireland and a treat!

Cache was not too difficult to find, after I had finished leading us the wrong way further down below the garden. Thanks for the interesting walk and history to this place. We didn't see any Eagles this time, the sky was a little overcast too.

There were no trackables in this cache.

Well, we didn't realise there was a castle in Killarney, but we found it! Now onto the cache...

Walked the sandy trail, which reminded me of my younger days holidaying in Devon, we got down to the beach and then headed towards where we thought the cache was. It was an interesting place with these old stone walls which I assume were part of the old outer defences?

The place was completely dry you will be glad to know, and we discovered we had overshot GZ by quite a bit, when we looked at the hint.

Another cacher once asked the question on one of our caches, "Are _TeamFitz_ mad?" well now I guess we have the answer.

We had decided to stay in Killarney one more night to sample the area, and so I floated the idea to Mrs Fitz of attempting this one again. She was not so enthusiastic, but on seeing my enthusiasm, she was persuaded.

Not to be outdone by a mere mountain, _TeamFitz_ parked at the bottom car park where we had done before and made our way up to the fork where we had been before and chosen the red (closed) route. Instead we went on ahead to the blue and was greeted by a slow and friendly elevation.

Finally we found ourselves out in a valley and soon came upon a railway sleeper and a familiar looking sheep trail. Thankfully the sheep trail turned out to be the correct footpath, as evidenced by roamers coming down, and by the presence of more railway sleepers, which took much of the hard climb out.

Another hour later and we were at the top with the magnificent, yet cloudy view of Killarney, we could even see Ross Castle which we had been at earlier that morning. The cache was soon found - hidden quite well, though the contents are a little damp.

We sat down and ate some snacks, an old Irish fellow who had been up here many times before offered to take our photo, and then we sat and talked to him for half an hour about Ireland, tabloids and politics.

When I finally stood up I was hit immediately by the wind, which reminded me we were on a mountain. A rain cloud was on it's way so we decided to quickly make our way down. We caught a little bit of the rain but we were soon in the warmer climate and making our way back towards the falls.

We have now seen and hiked on both sides of Torc Mountain and have the photos and stories to prove it.

Thanks for the experience!
