Finally good to strike off this earlier DNF! To think it was in the one location I had eyed suspiciously a couple of times but never reached my hand out to check (Of course, the updated hints helped).

Did this one on my lunchtime, GPSr-less due to batteries dying out at the wrong moment, had to rely on the force. Grey and soggy days like these are no good for lunchtime walks, but they are good for lunchtime caches. Where you are gauranteed that no lurkers are going to be about, and roamers will not stop to take an interest in what you're doing.

Anyway, it only took a minute this time for the cache to be in my hands, but in my haste to reorganise contents and drop off DanTheMan TB I forgot to sign the log. I took pictures from my BB, so I hope this one will do.

Thanks for a great location!

Yay! Finally got this sucker!

After the miserable failure last time on the other side of the road I contacted pyrodave and got a digit corrected - finally had a chance to come up and visit the family in Bedworth so we nabbed this one on the way.

Wife parked up but didn't want to get out of the car as she wasn't feeling very well. I turned to her and stated quite frankly that I didn't give a damn. It then wasn't long before the cache was in my hands.

Thanks for a great puzzle, many memories of eating here and at McDonalds down the road with the church youth group before or after a night at the movies!

Final thought, how about adding Geochecker - http://www.geochecker.com/ to this cache page?

Well, our previous log will probably be the only DNF ever on this cache. Back again today to search the correct location (after reading the correct cache details) and finally getting this one put to bed.

Wasn't difficult, fairly obvious where it was hidden. Was a roaming old lady carrying 2 shopping bags who sorta sneaked up on me whilst I was putting it back but she passed and didn't even blink - too much lost in her own thoughts I think.

Found after spending the afternoon with family in Collycroft, teaching my 2.5 year old nephew rude behavior.

2nd in this Trolley series. It was dark already when we parked up and started searching which meant few roamers or lurkers.

Took a while to find, but on reading the hint and previous logs, had a good idea what we were looking for, and it did turn out to be what I expected.

Now this is what caching is all about for me. Some people might say "Oh this is just another PNG" but for me, something hidden in almost plain view, passed by hundreds of unawares everyday is what I find part of the thrill of the hunt.

I have one of these caches myself, just haven't found a place for it yet. Nice to see some more caches appearing in Bedworth too!

Solved this one yesterday in anticipation of coming to Bedworth today and hoping to snag a few of the new caches placed up here.

I have to admit, I fell to the dark side and used the CO's spoiler hint. I will state for the record I happened upon it by accident as I perused the earlier logs - I had already decrypted the normal cache hint and of course this does so the logs too.

Good puzzle though, I did manage to put together the first part myself. The longest part of solving it was figuring out who the old guy was in the first picture. It is a face I recognised, but I was racking my brain trying to think of names of US politicians and businessmen. Then a flash of memory - perhaps a move of the Holy Spirit? - and I had his name instantly.

I think it's worth mentioning, not being a local cacher I would never have got the reference to ] graham 1875, but since it is a tribute cache I won't grumble.[

Onto the cache itself. Made the mistake of approaching from the wrong direction (all this new estate confused me, it's been a while since I lived in Bedworth),] so we parked in Bermuda Road - not realising that Harefield Lane is not accessible by car.[ It wasn't a long walk though.

As usually happens with _TeamFitz_ we started the day late, so it was already dark by the time we got round to this cache. Which is a shame because this whole area is new and looks to provide a great view. As it happened we got Nuneaton and Bedworth by night, which is still a sight to behold.

Snow still on the ground here and the frozen mud made access much more pleasant than it could have been. Had to broaden the search at Ground Zero before finding a brazen hide and small cache hidden in a place you wouldn't think would hold anything bigger than a micro - well done!

Thanks for the brain-ache, well worth it in the end!

GC4FAE: Hornet's Hide 5 - Spooks up East (Herts)

What a fantastic place for a hide! We headed down to this one after doing Summerhouse Way playing field, and admittedly I hadn't looked at the cache page (we go paperless so I usually read when I get to GZ). As we walked down the path I followed the GPSr through a trail into what seemed like an old and overgrown graveyard and pointed Mrs Fitz to the gravestones.

We weren't quite sure of what we'd stumbled into, but we were quite taken by the scene. I took some photo's of the gravestones and Mrs Fitz read them and noted that they were all young when they died, which led her to assume it may be a soldiers graveyard. Well, when getting to GZ and finally reading the cache page how wrong we were.

Cache was found easily enough by me, Mrs Fitz said she "thought it would be there" but that thought didn't translate into action so I beat her to it. No ghosts or zombies were seen or heard from during our excavations but you never know.

Well what a great way to introduce us to Abbots Langley! Depending how you look at this is also a great cache for wives or bad one for husbands -- since we just had to stop and look in all the quaint shop windows and the estate agents of course. Parked at the top end of town near the Church, which was ok as it was a Sunday, and headed down towards the first waypoint before realising we had to go back up for the start, Doh!

Waypoint 2
We got to the church and discovered, as others have noted, that the Rev has changed - but the house number hasn't. For anyone else attempting this cache, don't worry about B as you can still work it out*.

Waypoint 3
The War Memorial also looked like it was going to be a non-starter due to a lot of the names being eroded off, but Mrs Fitz spotted a newish plaque in front which tells you there is a brass plaque on the inside of the church on the South aisle. The church was open and only a few people in there looking around, so we found the brass memorial easily enough.

Waypoint 4
Started by looking around for a plaque or notice board but it soon became obvious when you watch where you put your feet.

Waypoint 5
Easy find, no comment.

Waypoint 6
Well I've never seen a rocking horse like this before. Too bad me and Mrs Fitz would feel a bit out of place jumping on this now. Having got the final clue we put it all into the Garmin then had a guess at the missing number which isn't too hard to deduct. Final coords set, we headed to the cache.

Final

]

Some teenage lurkers were hanging around nearby on the swing, but didn't seem interested in us as we skulked into the bushes. Once beyond the park and out of site, very easy to find, but I did have to stop Mrs Fitz from charging into the holy, when I realised there would be an easier way round to GZ.

Cache almost seemed like it was buried - but discovered it was just caked in mud, the contents were dry though.

[

Great multi, but some of the clues need updating otherwise it seems like the difficulty could be raised by a star - particularly since you're now needing to enter the church for the second stage. Thanks for the hard work in putting this together - I know how much planning one like this takes!

* B is only used once for the final coords - B-F. The coordinate can only be a number from zero-nine so when you remove F from nine you have a smaller range to guess from.

3rd of our trip around the park here. Mrs Fitz couldn't believe it when she saw the outdoor gym. I've seen one in Kings Cross but never tried it.

We made our way to where we both instinctively knew where the cache was hidden. Mrs Fitz sat down while I did the old check my bootlaces trick and grabbed quite easily. Nice rest stop after traipsing through the muddy trails. This park is fantastic, never had this kind of thing when I was a kid. Speaking of which kid lurker was looking over at us with a suspicious eye, but I found a moment when he was distracted enough to turn my back to him, pretend to check in my bag then put the cache back in place.

First time we've visited Abbots Langley, attempting some caches out here. Finding a parking space was a little tricky as we approached from the West, but we found we could park in the side road just off Tibbs Hill Road.

Traversed the park without too much difficulty and was soon at ground zero. It was then we began our search. It took us a whole minute to check around the kissing gate and at the start of the path, but we deduced we had gone too far and made our across to the other side of the large gate to search the foliage around there. After 2 full minutes had passed, we felt it was time to look at the hint, which helped us narrow our search field. Another minute passed, we were almost at our wits end, but it was then that I had a "Eureka!" moment and finally laid hands on the cache.
