Our first find of the day - up visiting Claydon House and decided to use our National Trust membership and do some caching at the same time.

Nice easy find, we like these graveyard caches but this graveyard seems to be a bit neglected and yet still people are getting buried here! Dipping Rav4 TB.

We arrived in Fringford mid afternoon having never been before and to do a good trail. We were caching paperless and attempted this after the other 2 nearby caches. We were on Shanks's pony and so we arrived at specified GZ but were utterly confused by the cache page wording and clues - since we were expecting a multi in the sense of a container or questions to answer at the start. We therefore decided to abandon it and get on with the traditionals, with hope in the back of our minds that a lightbulb might flick on and we could come back to it.

Several caches later we were heading back down Main Street towards the car to head home. We were thoroughly exhausted due to the humidity but suddenly both spotted a rather prominent yellow sign and both of us knew this must be it. We headed back to the car then pelted down main street in search of the other clues. Then the cache description all started to make sense, we finally found ourselves at the church and parked up here and began to look for one of those elusive public footpaths which tend to look like a small gap between two neighbouring property fences.

After finding the footpath, we were well on our way and into another beautiful area - unfortunately it was now that I discovered why it pays to buy a backup battery for my DSLR and so I exhausted the battery and could take no more photos. But this was a nice ending to our caching experience and a great place for a hide. I was very pleased to have managed to get this one before we left!

FYI: We found the first set of coords to be most accurate. Also this seems to be a bit of a hybrid multi-puzzle. I think it would better suited listed as a puzzle, as we found it confusing. However I say this coming from the paperless perspective where some formatting is lost in the mobile software so it's less clear where the back-story ends and the clues begin.

We were up visiting family as it was the nephew's birthday recently and we bought him a battery powered car. He is now 3 years old and has been caching since he was 2! [:D] This is his third cache.

This was a neat cache and dash, easy for us to drive up and after a little scuffling we saw what the frogs could see and retrieved the cache. It was nice to find a good size container around here (and correctly size rating too). I usually don't mind doing the micros, but now I got the nephew hooked we like to be a little prejudiced towards caches with swag.

Some nice toys here, nephew swapped a few of these Go Go things for another toy thing and we were back on our way. Dipping Rav4 TB, TFTC!

This was quite a hike from "Who has the Gaul..." to be fair though I think we made it more hard work than it needed to be. We headed North up the road and got to a nice country house and found the public footbridge which took us into a horses field. As soon as the horses saw us on the bridge they galloped over - all four of them to greet us.

Well Mrs Fitz freaked out a little due to a childhood incident/injury with a horse and these guys (or should I say girls) would just not let us move forward off the bridge. Eventually they backed out a little and I was able to squeeze by and as I made my way into the field I picked up 2 very, very close admirers (or should we say stalkers - can horses be stalkers?). So close, they insisted on following me the whole length of the field and nuzzling my backpack, then walking in front and cutting me off twice. It was a little unnerving if I am to be honest - was I going to have to promise to marry one of them before they let me go?

In the meantime, Mrs Fitz made her way stealthily behind and past the little equinous love-in that was taking place in the middle of the field.

Well they may have been a tad over familiar, particularly on the first date but they did let me leave the field without having to file sexual harassment charges so it wasn't all that bad. We then made our way on through the next field and now the GPSr was once again failing for me but working perfectly well in my wife's hands. We ended up going into the corner then realising we needed to double back and cross over the style into the other footpath.

Once on the bridge, the cache(s) were soon found. Yes there are two caches here, how did this happen? One was quite dusty and covered by spider webs and both were a little damp. However an excellent hiding spot!

We headed back a different route which took us all around the back of the church and in a complete circle - nice hike overall. TFTC!

We have the Gaul to come here! Actually this area has become quite overgrown since it was last visited - you can tell by the fact that there was no cachers trail at all. Thankfully we were able to bushwhack through all the waist high nettles and reeds without the need to visit Getafix for a top-up.

Found by the wife again, whilst I did all the paperless stuff. Took PC Timmy TB, Kiwi Seeker TB was not in the cache.

Fresh log this time! Got to GZ and started searching around this incredibly small gate (had to hold my beer gut in to get through) then found after broadening the search.

This meadow was difficult to find, the footpaths around here that lead from the housing estates seem to be very well hidden and don't look public at all. Disappointed to see dog walkers letting their mutts roam free and pooping all over despite the notice.

Well I guess I should pay more attention to the cache title instead of doing the drunken bee dance with the GPSr, but we found it eventually and I had that "Doh!" moment.

Annoyed to see that some mutt owner had decided to scoop their poop into a plastic bag but leave it in the styles on their way out - what's the point of that? It would be better to at least leave the fresh poop in the open to biodegrade. The laziness of some people is shocking!

However it was a nice easy find in an otherwise pleasant location and nice to be learning history as we go along. TFTC!

Fun cache to do. Thankfully there weren't many lurkers or roamers around - said but for one family who were using the park nearby. We had already stopped by the bench and they were giving us some strange looks as we began our hunt. It soon became clear where the cache was, and the retrieve meant me getting under Mrs Fitz (ooh err) and give her the boost up.

I can only imagine the thoughts of the concerned parents nearby on the swings as they looked over and saw me and Mrs Fitz disappear behind the tree and come back out again a few minutes later looking a bit flustered. Still I don't think they sussed what we were up to - but would it have been better for them to know?

This was definitely deep, but not as deep as some of the bushwhacking we already had to do today in places where GZ had been completely overcome by new growth! This was tame in comparison [8D]

Anyway, it was nice to have a bit of challenge and we both got stung at GZ too, but I was more worried about the mozzies to be honest. Cache was a much trickier hide than expected, but didn't elude us for long.

We had visited Clayton House earlier this afternoon and now we decided on doing some caches and noticed this cluster in Twyford (which my Canadian wife pronounces Twyeford - with an 'eye' sound) so we parked as suggested and started out.

How difficult was it to find this footpath? We ended up going into the farm and since it looked quite private we turned back, then on the way up the road we spotted the footpath sign but this seemed to lead around the back of someone's cottage. Thankfully the owners of said cottage returned and upon making queries we discovered the narrow slither of an overgrown path which lead us into the meadow.

It was slightly grey but still humid day with odd spots of sunshine but all the buttercups were out and Mrs Fitz made her way ahead whilst I stopped to take photos. I was then accosted by two horses and as I tried to move on it became clear they wanted to pose for photos so I took some shots of these fellas then we were on our way.

A bit of back and forth in the next field finally led us to the cache which was found by Mrs Fitz. It seems that the GPSr compass goes barmy whenever I hold it but points in the right direction when my wife has it - must be my magnetic personality!

_TeamFitz_ had decided to do some after work caching (after Mrs Fitz did a bit of shopping on Oxford Street first) and we made our way up to Marlybone to catch the tube and head home, decided to grab this and one other around the station before we left.

Approached from the North West and instantly spotted the cache as we came to the steps. Retrieving it was not difficult either. There is nothing quite like the smell of ammonia in the cool evening air, thanks for bringing us to this spot.

Seriously though, I don't know if the cache would benefit from being relocated somewhere nearby as spot seems to have become an improvised facility for gentry wishing to relieve themselves as they make their way to and from the station.

Headed over to Oxford Street on the tube after work. Waited for about 6 packed tubes before finally jumping on and taking my chances. I just can't stand the crowds, the armpits, the guy who can't wait so jumps on behind me his body right next to mine, I only let my wife get that close mate!

Mrs Fitz needed to get some cosmetics from Selfridge's and so of course I ended up being dragged along and stood outside on the pavement for a while looking at caches in the nearby vicinity - the nearest 2 were multi's that needed other stages completed first so they were off the list which made this one the next nearest. I don't know what it is about London but it seems you can choose to stand anywhere, and choose a spot which you think is out of the way of the crowds and yet still someone will manage to bump into you - perhaps it's my own personal magnetism - I don't know but they just stumble along like zombies and eventually will brush past...

Aah well enough of the ranting about London, this is meant to be a cache log isn't it? Well we both made our way over, about a 15 minute walk from Oxford Street, not too long and we soon were at the memorial. Mrs Fitz found this right away, she's got the eagle eyes. Signed the log and it was done. Nice to see a small container, not a micro and a few small swag items too.

As for the cache, good location and a nice bit of history to learn from. Nano was easily found, thanks for bringing us here!

Ok so I solved this one ages ago and had it saved as I work nearby - but things like the weather and time got in the way, by the time I was ready to do this the puzzle had changed again, so I had to solve this one again (thankfully not difficult).

Arrived a GZ after finding RE Hedges nearby with a now less tearful wife. She spotted the cache straight away, before I could even get my CacheBerry loaded.

Working nearby in Victoria Embankment I've been looking at this cache for a long time, being one of those caches that require a little more preparation and time than my usual lunchtime dash affords. Since the other half doesn't work Fridays but was coming in to pick up her new Android phone, I got her to bring in some of my gear and planned to strike this one off the proximity radar.

The wife arrived and we met in Starbucks where I promptly changed in the toilets, we filled up on latte's and were on our way just after 6pm. I must confess I had been here once before but upon realising what it was I decided to give it a pass - DNA. Although I love taking chances, I preferred to at least have someone there to ring the ambulance. Of course - bringing the wife perhaps not such a good idea after all. Although I had explained it, the realisation came for her when we got to GZ and then she was not happy when I leapt up onto the wall and sat there waiting for lost roamers and restaurant patrons to disappear.

I explained that all I needed to do was head south and that it really didn't look like much of a drop, so although she was quite nervous she was ok to let me go and so I made my descent. It was quite tricky at first to get both legs over but after a couple of times it starts to feel quite natural - and I did have to go a couple of times!

The first time I traversed halfway down and looked around for any kind of nook or cranny but to no avail. So I got back up again and decided to check the hint - then it became much clearer. When I explained the hint to Mrs Fitz, well this is when the hysterics started - she just didn't want me to go further and she began to raise her voice in that way that women do in public when you're trying to get them to calm down and everyone is enjoying the fireworks. She began to wail, she didn't want me to go back without something to grip onto, and we stood there for a good 20 minutes. I'm pretty sure that the roamers making there way down towards us and back again probably thought they were looking on at some kind of suicide bid and a desperate wife trying to talk her husband out of it!

So I suggested I go back down the ladder and have a quick look again, and so I did, she seemed more calm when I stuck to the ladder, but as I was climbing back up to the top again, for some reason I felt the impulse to stretch across and it was much easier than I had assumed. Obviously Mrs Fitz was once again beside herself but I assured her I was wedged in tight and there was going to be no slippage. Once there the cache was an easy grab, I passed it to Mrs Fitz and she got it signed then back again.

A few seconds later, back over the wall and into her embrace - all was well but she was not happy. I had valued the cache more than I valued her - so she said. I tried to explain how I love her more than caching but that "a mans gotta do..." and all that. She did not accept this but as we walked onto the next cache she got back in the mood again so you'll be pleased to know that all's well with _TeamFitz_.

Thanks for the superb cache, even though Mrs Fitz might not agree, I enjoyed the rush.

1st Earthcache! [:P]

Saw this one appear recently and since I work across the other side of the river there was no excuse for us not to go for our first Earthcache.

Arrived here around about 8pm so perfectly timed for the low tide, after completing some other caches in the area. I answered the first clue last night by (not) Going Out Or Getting Lost If Not Good ANSWERS. In fact once the first answer dawned on me it was obvious and quite simple - the problem is that I was searching journals looking for all sorts of long scientific names - thinking it was something far more obscure!

Logged as a find whilst awaiting confirmation of the answers from CO. TFTC! Enjoyed bringing my wife here, since I did nearby Father Thames & The Mermaid alone.

We had just completed Watt Mast #5 and were on our way to do the River Thames Earth Cache and decided to detour to find this one on the way.

Originally walked past GZ, but then headed back across the road and found easily, although Mrs Fitz said she guessed it was there as we passed - but she was just following my directions - yeah right! [:D]

Some lurkers were playing Tennis nearby and one was looking over intensely as I retrieved the cache (I didn't realise until I was already bent over with hand on it) - they carried on their game regardless, hopefully they didn't really see what I was doing - just a strange man with a camera and GPSr bending over by the corner of the tennis courts.

Took 2x TBs out - realised there was nothing left! No trade items in the cache so left a few small items - hopefully others will trade up or even. TFTC!

We decided to come up to Kings Langley for the day and grab a few of the caches around here. I've seen this virtual sitting here for a long time and it must be the nearest virtual to us so I'm glad to finally get it.

The main entrance to the garden was closed for repaving but we soon found the side entrance and headed in. Bit of confusion at first over which tree it could be but the hint confirmed the one and it was then that Mrs Fitz with her incredible eyes spotted the "sword".

Fascinating bit of legend, it would be nice to get a ladder or something and really confirm what it is - I wonder how long the tree will stand there too, seems to be in advance stage of disease.

After finding Hidden Sword we attempted to get down to the canal via the estate and were going to start at the Railway Station end but got caught out by lack of exits, so headed back to the car and parked nearby this one instead.

Beautiful area. Took us a huge amount of time to find this, due to my inability to read a compass correctly! Many roamers passed by and puzzled over our intense interest in this bridge. Eventually found by Mrs Fitz who checked a place I thought I had already checked - doh!

After completing this cache we made our way towards Ovaltine Overflow and crossed paths with a group of young scallywags on the opposite bank who shouted over at us:

"Did you take some nice photo's of the bridge"
"Which one?" I yelled back.
"The Langley footbridge... why were you taking photos of it?"
"We like bridges!" Cue mutterings and mild insults then the comedian shouted back some helpful advice.
"There's some more bridges you can go to.... Water Lane bridge... M25, Sainsbury's has a bridge..."

We carried on backs turned, and couldn't help chuckling. So now you have another excuse as to what you're doing for the uninitiated - bridge enthusiasts!

I had come to Lancaster Gate for the Clockwise Event nearby and whilst waiting for the other half, went to see if I could solve this puzzle. Upon reaching the coords I noticed it was exactly like another puzzle I had attempted recently (and failed). Just as I was reaching in for the receiver, up came Tessa from mbtkz, then TausH, then Mark from mbtkz. They had all been trying to figure it out too!

We combined our collective brain power and had it figured out quickly enough making our way to the final location. Upon arriving it was pretty clear that this cache was buried under a ton of sand and dirt.

Not sure if the recent devastation of the area is due to previous finders or some kind of builders goings on [;)].

As we approached we got to the kissing gate and decided to split up either side, I felt sure it was through the other side of the gate and Mr Ben felt it was on this side of the hill. Got halfway down and Mr Ben came through another hidden kissing gate, turns out we were both right/wrong and it was somewhere in the middle.

There was a full on gale whilst we were gathering clues for this but we managed to persevere. We got the coords alright but I logged them incorrectly after the wife read them out to me which gave me a completely different reading to Mr Ben - which is why we went to View from Coombe Hill first.

Thankfully Mr Ben led the way to this one anyway. Nice easy find, but noticed a GC jacket left in the cache but no coin. Must agree with FantasticCat, great stroll if you're into the no pain, no gain approach to caching - just glad it wasn't raining along with the all the wind!

Found with Mr Ben after attending nearby 10 Year event. Didn't realise this was the oldest surviving cache in GB either - bonus! Actually it was Mr Ben and the wife that found it as stood on the footpath south struggling to put on my kagool.

Took Joel's Racer TB, LN. TFTC!

Teamed up with Mr Ben for this one after the nearby 10 Year event.

I slid over twice on the way over to this, but managed to avoid getting caked in mud due to my quick reaction and strong forearm. Quite a crafty hide I must say, there were several places this could be but eventually wandered round to the right place and spotted this good sized container.

Mrs took a tiny ladybird thing, and we left a cat thing. SL TFTC!

Well _TeamFitz_ just made it. We got going late and managed to arrive on the very gusty hill at about 2.50pm just as SimplyPaul and the last of the stragglers were wrapping up! We did sign the log, but didn't get to mingle much.

Bumped into MrBen and we teamed up to do nearby MONUMENTALIST and other caches around the Hill. Thanks for the event SP!
